Business Background

FHA-approved appraisers participating in HUD's appraiser review process must request an FHA Connection user ID by completing the FHA Connection's Appraiser Registration form. When approved, a six-character FHA Connection user ID is sent to the appraiser via e-mail within approximately 48 hours to the e-mail address entered on the Appraiser Roster Application form. If you do not receive a user ID and the e-mail address entered on the Appraiser Roster Application form is outdated or incorrect, call HUD at 1-800-CALL-FHA to have it updated.

Prime Contractor

An appraiser acting as a prime contractor must contact the appropriate HOC helpline and request that the appraiser's FHA Connection user ID be linked to the name HUD has on record for the prime contractor. Prime contractor information is maintained by the appraiser review data manager for each HOC.

Desk Reviewer Contractor

An appraiser acting as a desk reviewer contractor for Field Review Feasibility Checklist processing must contact the appropriate HOC helpline and request that the appraiser's FHA Connection user ID be linked to the appropriate desk reviewer contractor. Desk reviewer contractor information is maintained by the appraiser review data manager for each HOC.

After Receiving an FHA Connection User ID

You can sign on to the FHA Connection using the six-character user ID that was issued and the password that was entered on the Appraiser Registration form. The FHA Connection main menu appears after successfully signing on. From the FHA Connection main menu page, you can do the following:

Begin work: Go to the Appraiser Review Functions page by selecting the following sequence of links: Single Family FHA, Single Family Origination, and Appraiser Review Functions.
Change your password: Select ID Maintenance at the bottom of the FHA Connection main menu page and then Password Change.
Update your name, telephone number, or e-mail address: Select ID Maintenance at the bottom of the FHA Connection main page and then FHA Connection ID Administration.

The appropriate HOC must be contacted to update secure information such as Social Security Number, mother's maiden name, and the prime contractor link (if applicable).

Note: The FHA Connection user ID is a unique identification number assigned to a specific individual. Sharing the ID is prohibited.
