CAIVRS Check

The Credit Alert Verification Reporting System (CAIVRS) is a shared database of defaulted Federal debtors. This system identifies individuals who: a) are in default or have had claims paid on direct or guaranteed Federal loans, and/or b) are delinquent on other debts owed to Federal agencies.

A CAIVRS check is automatically conducted each time the Condominium Reviewer Registry page is processed. If the individual is located in CAIVRS, an error message is displayed (see below) and no further processing may continue. If the condominium reviewer was previously established in the system and a CAIVRS record is located when making an update, the record is automatically terminated by the system. Only authorized HUD personnel may reinstate a terminated record.

Authorized users may use CAIVRS Authorization on the FHA Connection to perform a manual check of the employee prior to trying to establish or update a condominium reviewer's record. CAIVRS Authorization is available through the following sequence of FHA Connection links: Single Family FHA, Single Family Origination, Case Processing, and CAIVRS Authorization.
