Assigning a Case Number

Case Number Assigned
Upon successful completion, the Case Number Assignment Results page displays the FHA-assigned case number. However, even though a case number is assigned, the borrower identification information (i.e., name, Social Security Number (SSN), birth date combination) for each borrower must still be validated with the Social Security Administration (SSA). This validation takes place overnight, and the results of the validation can be obtained the next business day using Case Query or Holds Tracking (see WINK, Holds Tracking).

Case Number Not Assigned

If you receive an error when you submit the Case Number Assignment page, you may need to correct and resubmit the case information.

Or, the case may be placed on hold pending further action/review for one of the following:

Duplicate property address,
HOC review of lender, or

The system is unable to issue the Refinance Authorization Number at the current time. All case information is saved and automatically processed, including assignment of the case number, once the system can generate the Refinance Authorization Number.

  See WINK, Holds Tracking.
