 Quick Start: Single Family Origination FHA Approval Lists

The options on the FHA Approval Lists menu provide access to HUD lists and information required in processing a mortgage for FHA insurance. Listed below are descriptions of the options on the FHA Approval Lists menu.

FHA Approval Lists Menu
Menu Option Description
203k Consultants Used to search for 203k consultants by ID, SSN, name, city, or state.
ADP Codes Presents information on commonly used Automated Data Processing (ADP) codes used for Direct Endorsement (DE) processing of FHA-insured home mortgages. The listing is presented according to the Section of the National Housing Act under which FHA loans are insured. For guidance in selecting an ADP Code, see ADP Code Selection.
ADP Code Selection Provides assistance in selecting the correct ADP Code. Users input descriptive information about the specific case, e.g., case type, amortization type, or applicable Housing program.
Appraisers Allows search for active FHA-approved appraisers included on HUD's Appraiser Roster by appraiser license number, name, geographic location, ethnicity, race, and/or gender.
Case Number Prefixes Used to request a list of all HUD-issued FHA case number prefixes (the first three digits of an FHA Case Number) and corresponding Homeownership Center (HOC) and Field Office area information. The Case Number Prefixes List feature can be especially helpful in determining which field office is associated with an FHA case.
Condominiums Allows authorized users to search for condominium projects by location, name, or status. In addition, authorized users may establish or edit a condominium project, as well as add a submission as needed.
Counseling Agencies Provides a list of housing counseling agencies established in HUD's Housing Counseling System (HCS) that employ one or more counselors who are HUD-certified or on the HECM Counselor Roster. See also Counseling Functions in the Quick Start Guide.
GSA Lists Links to the General Service Administration's (GSA's) System for Award Management (SAM). Provides access to various electronic reports that identify parties excluded throughout the U.S. Government (unless otherwise noted) from receiving Federal contracts or subcontracts, as well as from certain types of Federal financial and non-financial assistance/benefits.
HECM Counselors Provides a list of counselors on the HECM Counselor Roster that provide Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) counseling. See also Counseling Functions in the Quick Start Guide.
Housing Counseling Agencies Links to the Talk to a Housing Counselor page on the HUD.GOV website. The Talk to a Housing Counselor page includes links to a list of HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, including those that provide HECM counseling.
Limited Denial of Participation Links to the HUD Enforcement Center page which provides the Limited Denial of Participation and Voluntary Abstention List. This is a list of parties excluded for a specific time period from participation in a HUD program area.
Mortgage Limits Displays the FHA maximum mortgage limits by state, county, Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA) (referred to as MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area)), and last update for high-cost urban and non-urban areas. The results also include a summary of the current basic standard FHA mortgage limits, high-cost area FHA mortgage limits, and Section 214 National Housing Act FHA mortgage limits.
Nonprofits Allows search for nonprofit agencies by TIN, name, participating state, or authorization.
Program ID Codes Provides information on Program Identification (ID) codes used to identify Special Programs. These codes also apply when FHA insurance is pursuant to Section 223(e), and for VA-CRV and Direct Endorsement cases.
Sponsored Originator Maintenance Allows authorized users to search for sponsored originators by: name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) ID, or status (Active, Terminated, or Both). In addition, authorized users may establish and/or edit a sponsored originator record.
Underwriters Allows search for underwriters employed by the requesting mortgagee by ID, name, location, employment date, and/or status.
Zip Codes Allows search for zip codes by field office, state, city, county code, or county name. It also provides search capability for jurisdictional and lender option field offices that correspond to a known zip code.
