Requesting a Mortgage Limits List

1. On the Mortgage Limits page, specify the display order of your results by selecting one of the choices in the Sorted By drop-down list.  Results are presented in alphabetical order, A-Z, or numerical order, 0-9.
   
   

2. Then enter at least one of the following requirements.
   

   Note: Where indicated, you may enter partial information (one or more characters) to retrieve records (mortgage limits lists) that correspond with the entered criteria, e.g., entering "P" in the County field retrieves all mortgage limits information for counties with names beginning with "P." If multiple fields allow a partial entry and partial information is entered, all specified criteria are searched and only matching information is retrieved/displayed.
   
   

   •	State: Select a state from the drop-down list. If All States is selected, an additional requirement such as County must be entered.
   •	County: Type a full or partial county name.
   •	County Code: Type a full or partial three-digit county code.
   •	MSA Name: Type the full or partial name of a specific Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA), i.e., Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), Micropolitan Statistical Area(Micro), or Metropolitan Division. Type Non-metro for high cost non-urban areas that are not part of a CBSA.
   •	MSA Code: Type the five-digit code for the Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA), i.e., Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), Micropolitan Statistical Area (Micro), or Metropolitan Division. Use 99999 for high cost non-urban areas that are not part of a CBSA.

3. Select the appropriate category of mortgage limits using the drop-down list in the Limit Type field.
   
   
4. Select the calendar year, e.g., CY2009, for which mortgage limits are being requested in the Limit Year field.
   
   
5. To retrieve only mortgage limits changed on or after a specific date, type the date in the Last Revised field.
   
   
6. Click Send. If information is found based on the criteria you entered, the Mortgage Limits List page appears with selected information. A message at the top of the page states: Mortgage Limits successfully completed. To download mortgage limits data and/or file descriptions, click File Layouts Page.

   If no information is found based on the criteria you entered, the Mortgage Limits page appears with an error message at the top of the page that states: Mortgage Limits not processed due to error(s). The selection criteria you entered are listed and an Error(s) Detected message in the Details section at the bottom of the page states: No records matched your selection criteria. See Correcting Search Errors.

   If there is an error, the Mortgage Limits page appears with an error message at the top of the page that states: Mortgage Limits not processed due to error(s). The selection criteria you entered are listed and an Error(s) Detected message in the Details section at the bottom of the page describes the error. See Correcting Search Errors.

Requesting Another Mortgage Limits List

1. Click Mortgage Limits in the red banner at the top of the page to return to the Mortgage Limits page and enter new search criteria. See Requesting a Mortgage Limits List.

   -or-
   
   Use your browser Back button to return to the Mortgage Limits page. Modify the previously entered selection(s) or click Reset to clear all previously entered selections and enter new search criteria.

2. Click Send to process again.

Correcting Search Errors

Review the information on the Mortgage Limits page, specifically noting the Error(s) Detected message.

1. Enter or change one or more selections to correct the indicated error. See Requesting a Mortgage Limits List.
   
   
2. Click Send to process again.

Downloading a Mortgage Limits List

You can view and/or download (save) a file of all current FHA Forward or FHA HECM mortgage limits, as well as the corresponding file layout/description.

1. On the Mortgage Limits page or the Mortgage Limits List page, click the File Layouts Page link at the bottom of the page to view the list of available information. A list of mortgage limit types (i.e., FHA Forward, FHA HECM) and links to the corresponding mortgage limits and the file layout/description are displayed. Mortgage Limit information is provided in a flat file format.
   
   
2. Click the link for the desired file or description.
   
   
3. Click File, Save As. Your browser will lead you through the process of naming and saving the file.
   
   
4. Use your browser's Back button to return to the CHUMS Data Files page.
   
   
5. Repeat these steps to download (save) the file description and/or another mortgage limit file as needed.
