Post-endorsement Borrower SSN Correction
Processing
The Social Security Number of a borrower can only be corrected
by authorized personnel of the originator, sponsor, holder, or servicer of the
loan (case) or authorized HUD personnel. The procedure is explained below.Getting
Case and Borrower Information
- On the Post-endorsement Borrower SSN Correction
Request page, enter the case number assigned to the mortgage loan in
the FHA Case Number field. Type the first
three characters of the case number in the first box. Press Tab
to go to the next box and type the remaining seven characters.
- Click Send.
If there is no error, the Post-endorsement Borrower
SSN Correction page appears with the property address and borrower information.
Verify that you are working with the appropriate case by reviewing this information.
-or- If there is an error, one of the following
occurs:

to clear the message. Make the correction and process again. |

The Post-endorsement
Borrower SSN Correction Request page
appears with a Message field above
the request criteria fields and an Error(s)
Detected field below them. Review the information in these fields.
Make any necessary corrections and process again. |

Correcting the Borrower's SSN
If the Social Security Number is changed, the borrower/coborrower's
identification is validated against government records.
- On the Post-endorsement Borrower SSN Correction
page, type the correct Social Security Number for the borrower(s) to
be corrected in the appropriate SSN field.
Note: Type only the SSN(s) for the borrower to be corrected. Any borrower
for which the SSN is not entered will retain the SSN on record in HUD's systems.
- Click Send.
- The Post-endorsement Borrower SSN Correction
Results page appears if processing was successful.

If there are errors that prevent processing, the Post-endorsement
Borrower SSN Correction page appears again with
a Message field above the borrower information
fields and an Error(s) Detected field
below them. Review the information in these fields. Make any necessary corrections
and process again.
