Case Cancel/Reinstate
Business Background

Case Cancel/Reinstate is used by authorized HUD and lender personnel to:

Lenders can use Case Cancel/Reinstate to cancel and reinstate only their pipeline cases that have not been endorsed or for which upfront mortgage insurance premium (UFMIP) was not paid. To cancel an endorsed case or a case for which UFMIP was paid, submit a request with supporting documentation to the FHA Resource Center at answers@hud.gov. For detailed instructions, including a list of documents to submit, go to Case Processing Requirements on the HUD.gov website at: https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/housing/sfh/lender/origination/case_processing_req.

Case cancellation stops processing on the case and makes the case inactive. Reinstatement makes the case active again for processing.

Note: For an FHA-to-FHA refinance case, if an upfront mortgage insurance premium payment was made and there is refinance credit from the prior case, the refinance credit must be reversed before the new case can be canceled. This is done in the Single Family Premium Collection Subsystem - Upfront by authorized Single Family Operations Insurance Division personnel.
