After a case is endorsed for FHA insurance, the originator, sponsor, agent, or servicer can use Mortgage Insurance Certificate to view and print a Mortgage Insurance Certificate (MIC). This serves as evidence of FHA insurance on the mortgage loan.
A case is archived thirteen months after insurance endorsement. When Mortgage Insurance Certificate is processed for an archived case, an error message is displayed and a request to take the case out of archive is automatically initiated. The next business day, Mortgage Insurance Certificate can be processed again for the case. When the monthly archive process is run, the case is archived again. Mortgage Insurance Certificate can be used for all FHA cases endorsed since 1986. For cases endorsed prior to 1986, duplicate MIC requests are submitted to the HOC. In addition, a request to the HOC must be submitted for correcting information on the MIC that cannot be corrected by the lender. (See the MIC Correction Request Template on the HUD.gov website at: https://www.hud.gov/sites/documents/P_MIC.PDF.)
