Application Coordinator Registration
Business Background

An organization's designated Application Coordinator uses Application Coordinator Registration to apply for an FHA Connection user ID. FHA-approved lenders can have up to four Application Coordinators. All other organizations can have up to two Application Coordinators. For lenders, Application Coordinators are designated for the entire lending institution rather than for each branch office.

Once the Application Coordinator receives an FHA Connection user ID, other employees of the organization (Standard Users) can request FHA Connection user IDs for themselves. The Application Coordinator provides Standard Users with the appropriate FHA Connection application authorizations, updates non-secure employee information, resets passwords, and terminates a Standard User ID when applicable. The appropriate HUD Homeownership Center (HOC) can also be contacted to perform these tasks as well. The HOC, not the Application Coordinator, corrects secure information (Social Security Number, mother's maiden name, etc.).

A message is sent to the e-mail address provided on the applicant's registration form notifying the applicant if an FHA Connection user ID was issued and, if not, an explanation is provided. If a user ID is issued for a lender's Application Coordinator, an e-mail message disclosing the Application Coordinator's FHA Connection user ID is sent to the lender's Administrative Contact in LEAP. Upon final approval by the Administrative Contact, the FHA Connection user ID is provided to the Application Coordinator. If a user ID is issued for a service bureau's Application Coordinator, a notification letter disclosing the user ID is mailed within 7 to 10 days to the organization's home office mailing address, to the attention of the CEO. Upon final approval by the CEO, the FHA Connection user ID is provided to the Application Coordinator.

Note: The FHA Connection user ID is a unique identification number assigned specifically to an individual within an organization. Sharing the ID is prohibited.

Service Bureaus

If a lender uses a service bureau to access its cases on the FHA Connection, the lender's Application Coordinator grants the agency the appropriate rights. Before doing so, the agency must be established in HUD's system. To establish a service bureau for a Title II lender, send a request via e-mail to sf_premiums@hud.gov. To establish a service bureau for a Title I lender, call the Premiums Help Line at 1-800-669-5152, x2832. Once the service bureau is established in HUD's system and issued a service bureau ID, it can be granted the appropriate rights by the lender. Then, service bureau employees can apply for FHA Connection user IDs.

HUD Multifamily Systems

An applicant registering to use a HUD multifamily system for an FHA-approved multifamily lender must enter the unique ten-character FHA ID of the lender in the Title II Lender ID field of the registration form.
