HMDA Transaction Edit Report - Processing
The HMDA Transaction
Edit Report is an error notification report generated for financial
institutions that report HMDA information via the FHA Connection. Twenty-four
hours after a HMDA file is uploaded, the Transaction
Edit Report is accessible for viewing and printing. (Transaction
Edit Reports can be downloaded and saved to your personal computer
then formatted using a word processing application such as Microsoft Word.)
The Transaction Edit Report displays error
codes next to the reported Loan Application Records (LARs) that encountered
errors during processing. LARs identified as having errors must be corrected
and resubmitted.

Selecting a Transaction Edit Report
Transaction Edit Reports
generated for HMDA files submitted under your FHA Connection user ID are listed
on the HMDA Transaction Edit Report page.
The report identifiers, i.e., names, are divided into three sections:

The first six digits identify
your FHA Connection user ID. (You are only authorized to view reports generated
for your ID.) |

The middle ten digits identify
the lending institution for which the report was generated. |

The last fourteen digits identify
the date (first eight characters) and time (last six characters) the report
was generated. |

Saving a Transaction Edit Report
Note: The following are general instructions written for
users with Netscape Navigator Ver. 3.0 (or above), or Microsoft Internet Explorer
Ver. 4.0 (or above), and Microsoft Word Ver. 95 (or above).

With the Transaction Edit Report displayed,
click the File option in your browser
toolbar.
- From the File pull-down menu, click Save
As.
- Select the folder in which you want the report saved.
- If you want to save the report with a name other than the system-generated
report, e.g., H00999.8227700005.txt,
type a new name for the report in the File name
field.
Note: It is important to remember the name you designate for the report and
the folder in which you save the report so you can navigate to the file when
opening it in Microsoft Word.
- Click Save. The report is saved to the designated location. See Formatting
and Printing a Transaction Edit Report.

Opening the Transaction Edit Report File in Microsoft Word
- Open Microsoft Word.
- In the Main Menu bar, click File.
- Select Open from the File
pull-down menu.
- Locate the file that you saved in steps 1 - 6, above. (See
Saving a Transaction Edit Report)
- Highlight the filename and click Open.
The Transaction Edit Report file opens
in Microsoft Word. See Changing the Page Setup.

Changing the Page Setup
- With the file open in Microsoft Word, click File
in the Main Menu bar.
- Select Page Setup from the File
pull-down menu.
- Set the top, bottom, left, and right Margins
to .01
- Set the paper Orientation to Landscape.
- Click OK. A Message displays stating "One or more margins are set outside
the printable area of the page. Choose the Fix button to increase the appropriate
margins".
- Click Fix. The message box closes.
- Click OK. The document margins are set to accommodate the contents of the
current Transaction Edit Report file. See
Changing the Font Settings.

Changing the Font Settings
- With the file open in Microsoft Word,
click Edit
in the Main Menu bar.
- Select Select All
from the Edit pull-down menu. All text
in the Transaction Edit Report file is
highlighted.
- In the Main Menu bar, click Format.
- Select Font from the Format
pull-down menu.
- Set the Font to Courier
New.
- Set the Font style to Regular.
- Set the Size to 8.
- Click OK. The Transaction Edit Report
is reformatted for viewing and printing. See Saving and Printing
the Reformatted File.

Saving and Printing the Reformatted File
- With the file open in Microsoft Word,
click File in
the Main Menu bar.
- Select Save As from the File
pull-down menu.

Select the appropriate Word version from the Save
as type drop-down list.
- Click OK. The newly formatted file is saved as a Microsoft Word (.doc) file.
- Select Print from the File
pull-down menu.
- Specify a page or page range to print.
- Click OK. The specified pages are cued for printing.
