About Insurance Application
  Preparing to Use Insurance Application
Upfront Mortgage Insurance Premium (UFMIP) Issues

If an upfront mortgage insurance premium is required for the case, the calculated amount due must be completely paid before entering Insurance Application information. (See Upfront Premium Collection.)

bullet
If the case is Suspended, any paid UFMIP is withheld until the suspension is cleared.

bullet
Any UFMIP penalties (late and/or interest) due must be paid.

bullet
Discrepancies in the calculated UFMIP amount due can be resolved by verifying key information.

bullet If the case is a streamline refinance, the calculated UFMIP due depends on the unearned MIP remaining on the old case.

Note: A case cannot be endorsed for FHA insurance until seven business days or more have elapsed since the UFMIP payment was received by HUD's upfront premium collection system (SFPCS Upfront) and reported to HUD's Origination system, CHUMS. (The seven-day waiting period begins when CHUMS receives the UFMIP payment information.) Use Case Query to help determine when the case can be endorsed.
