  Underwriters

Information is required for the underwriter that approved the mortgage credit package (Underwriter ID field), as well as the underwriter that reviewed the appraisal report, if an appraisal was required for the case (Appraisal Underwriter field).

If an automated underwriting system (AUS) was not used, the underwriter entered for the mortgage credit package is checked against the FHA Connection Underwriter Registry:

bullet
Your company must be recorded as the underwriter's Current Employer.

bullet
The recorded Date Hired must be earlier than the Underwriter Approval Date entered on Insurance Application.

The Underwriter Approval Date cannot be earlier than the Case Number Assignment Date. To successfully submit the insurance application, the underwriter sign-off (approval date) must be later than the date the case number was issued.

If an appraisal was required for the case, you will need the four-character FHA ID for the underwriter that reviewed the appraisal report for the Appraisal Underwriter field.
