  Held Due to Duplicate Address

Cases are often held because the property address submitted is the same as or similar to an existing case. If the HOC review cannot resolve the duplicate address and assign the case number, the lender requesting the case number must take the necessary steps. A "duplicate address" can occur when:

Lender requested a case number for the same case, twice.

Case number is assigned to another lender for the same property.

Case number requested for a new purchase; property is a resale or refinance.

Property address is similar to an existing case property.

If the duplicate address issue is resolved, an FHA case number is assigned. However, the case remains in Holds Tracking pending overnight borrower validation against federal government records. The results of the borrower validation are available in Holds Tracking one to two business days following HOC approval. You may review the case Status in Holds Tracking to determine where the case is in this process.
